Ferrari Arno XI

Achille Castoldi tarafından 1950’lerin basında tasarlanan ve insa edilen Arno XI, Ferrari motorlu ilk ve tek hız rekortmeni Hydroplane’dir. Alberto Ascari ve Luigi Villoresi sürücüleri tarafından rekor denemeleri yapılmıstır. Arno XI’in Ferrari DNA’sını sadece dıs renginden almaz, “Dünya Su Hız Rekorunu” kırmak isteyen Castoldi Enzo Ferrari’yi  ona 4500cc’lik V12 Ferrari motoru saglaması için ikna eder. Ferrari’nin ilk Grand Prix zaferini elde ettigi 375 T modelinin motoru Timossi tarafından uyarlanarak Hydroplane’e yerlestirilmesiyle 241 km/h hıza ulasarak 800kg kategorisinde Dünya Su Hız Rekorunu günümüzde hala elinde bulundurmaktadır.
 
 
Ferrari Arno XI is the only Ferrari powered hydroplane ever built, designed in the early 1950s by Achille Castoldi together with drivers Alberto Ascari and Luigi Villoresi. The Arno XI hydroplane displayed its Ferrari DNA not only in its distinctive red colouring.Castoldi wanted to establish a world water speed record so he persuaded Enzo Ferrari to supply him with a 4500cc, V12 Ferrari engine; the same engine that gave Ferrari his first Grand Prix victory with the Ferrari 375 F1 at Silverstone Circuit in 1951.The engine was installed in a Timossi three-point racing hydroplane hull. That made it fly over the water, reaching a record speed of 241,708 km/h, a feat achieved on Lake Iseo in 1953, setting a record for the 800 kg category that remains unbeaten even now.
