Flower Class Corvette

Flower sınıfı korvet, II.Dünya Savası sırasında, özellikle Atlantik Savası sırasında denizaltı karsıtı konvoy eskort olarak Müttefik donanmalarında kullanılan 294 korvetten olusan bir Ingiliz sınıfıydı. Bu sınıfın Kraliyet Donanması gemilerine çiçeklerden isim verildi, bu nedenle sınıfın adı.Flower sınıfı korvetler Kuzey Atlantik savasında, diger eskortlarla birlikte Alman denizaltılarına karsı yük tasıyan konvoyları korumak ile görevliydiler.
 
 
The Flower-class corvette used during World War II which as escort of Allied ship convoys bore the brunt of the fight against the German U-boats in the World War II. Royal Navy ships of this class were named after flowers, hence the name of the class. Flower-class corvettes like Snowberry serving with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War were different from earlier and more traditional sail-driven corvettes. Snowberry was one of ten corvettes loaned to Canada.“HMCS Sackville” is the only member of the class to be preserved as a museum ship.Formerly HMS Snowberry. Transferred to RCN on 26 November 1940. Returned to RN on 8 June 1945.
