German U-Boat Type VII C-41

Uboot Type VII, II. Dünya Savasında 1933 yılı ile 1945 yılları arasında kullanılan Alman denizaltı modeli. Ikinci Dünya Savası boyunca 700 den fazla üretilmistir.Dısarıda 2, içeride 9 olmak üzere toplam 11 torpido tasıma kapasitesine sahipti. Silah donanımı olarak 4 önde 1 arkada toplam 5 torpido kovanı , 1 adet atıs hızı yüksek 88 mm lik KWK L45 topu barındırmaktaydı. Ilerleyen dönemde üzerine çesitli varyasyonlarda uçaksavar silah sistemi yerlestirilmistir. 37 mm'lik uçaksavar toplarından 4'lü sistem 20 mm'lik flak quadro sistemlere yer veren kule versiyonları yapıldı. II. Dünya Savasında Ingilizler'le Almanlar'ı savasa sokan olay ise, 1939 yılının 13-14 Kasıma baglayan gece Günther Prien komutasındaki U-47, Ingiliz denizüssü Scapa Flow'a girmis, limanda demirli bulunan Royal Oak Zırhlısını batırarak büyük bir basarı saglamıs olmasıdır. 1942'de sadece Amerika kıyılarında 900'den fazla ticari yük gemisini batırmıslardır. Teknolojik olarak bir yenileme yapılmaması, Enigma sifre sisteminin çözülmesi, ASDIC sonar sisteminin gelistirmesi "Black May" (Kara Mayıs)'ın habercisi olmustur. 1943 mayısında Ingiliz ve Amerikan destroyerleri ve uçak gemileri o güne degin yapılmıs en büyük U-boot operasyonu yapmıs, pasifikte bulunan 118 tane U-bot'dan pek çogu uçaklarca olmak üzere 41 tanesini yok etmeyi basarmıstır. Bu olay, U-bot'lara snorkel sistemi ve hava izleme radarları eklenmesine, daha hızlı ve yuksek kalibreli uçak savar silah sistemlerinin yerlestirilmesine sebep olmustur.
 
 
The Type VIIC was the workhorse of the German U-boat force, with 568 commissioned from 1940 to 1945. The first VII C boat commissioned was the U-93 in 1940. The Type VII C was an effective fighting machine and was seen almost everywhere U-boats operated, although its range of only 8,500 nautical miles was not as great as that of the larger Type IX (11,000 nautical miles), severely limiting the time it could spend in the far reaches of the western and southern Atlantic without refueling from a tender or U-boat tanker.[9] The VIIC came into service toward the end of the "First Happy Time" near the beginning of the war and was still the most numerous type in service when Allied anti-submarine efforts finally defeated the U-boat campaign in late 1943 and 1944. The Type VII was based on earlier German submarine designs going back to the World War I Type UB III and especially the cancelled Type UG. Type VII submarines were the most widely used U-boats of the war and were the most produced submarine class in history, with 703 built. The type had several modifications. The Type VII was the most numerous U-boat type to be involved in the Battle of the Atlantic.
